Celestia

Celestia is a free real-time space simulation that lets you experience our universe in three dimensions.
Celestia enthusiasts all over the world have built all kinds of extensions for Celestia, including textures, virtual solar sytems, spacecraft, educational tours and scripts. If you are 'into space' and have not heard of Celestia yet, then I can recommend to try it wholeheartedly.

Celestia AutoPilot

AutoPilot is a Windows program to create Lua (.celx) scripts to be run in Celestia. The scripts can be run from inside AutoPilot (no need to swicth to Celestia) or can be saved and run indepedently.

As of this writing, the scripts that can be generated are limited to rotations around and flights over planets (or other Celestia objects).

You can

  • approach planets
  • rotate around planets, with different views
  • make curves
  • fly below the clouds

If available time allows it, other types of scripts will be added in later versions.

Download AutoPilot

Click the link below to download Celestia AutoPilot.
Installation instructions are inside.

Attention: AutoPilot runs on Windows systems only (sorry Mac, Linux and other OS users). It may still be useful for you to download the AutoPilot package and make use of the included AutoPilot.lua library

Example output scripts

The ZIP file below includes a number of output scripts produced by Celestia AutoPilot. The library files AutoPilot.lua and ViewModes.lua are included.

Unzip all files into the Celestia program folder and then double-click one of the .celx files to start a script

Source code

This ZIP file contains the Delphi source code for Celestia AutoPilot.

Other scripts

In the pre-Lua Celestia age, I made a .cel script called Space Opera that takes you on a journey through our galaxy.
